This is particularly true for participants within the logistics industry, where their unique exposures require critical thinking and specialised coverage. Although other insurance brokers can place insurances for the logistics industry, if they are not dealing with the issues facing the industry daily, they are probably unaware of the potential exposures to a wide variety of liabilities to the services the logistics industry provides. These include exposures to international & national shipping conventions, admiralty and international laws, and local Singaporian Border Force laws and regulations. Logify specialises in providing insurance advice to the logistics industry, and we manage numerous insurance programs for freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport operators and many other participants within the industry.

    FAQs

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Got any questions? Here’s a list of some general questions, kindly go through them, maybe you get your answer here.

    Do I need to fill a special form to purchase the cargo insurance?

    At the time of shipment, in addition to the regular information, you will be prompted to provide only a few additional details, such as the value of the cargo and details of the policy holder.

    How do I determine how much I should insure my goods for?

    Under a cargo policy, you would usually value goods at the invoice cost, freight charges and an additional percentage of the total of those amounts (normally 10%). The additional percentage accounts for charges that may be incurred during shipping but aren’t known at the time of booking.

    In case of a claim, which documents will be required to submit the claim?

    To speed up the processing of your claim, please provide the following documentation, if available:

    • Commercial invoice
    • Photographs of damage
    • Bill of Lading/CMR Note/Waybill
    • Packing list
    • Freight invoice
    • Letter of Protest

    What are the main exclusions under my cargo insurance policy?

    Your policy contains a few exclusions, all of which are common in cargo insurance policies. For example, the insurance may not pay for loss or damage caused by:

    • You intentionally taking an action that damages your goods or incurs an expense
    • Wear and tear, ordinary leakage, ordinary loss in weight or volume, or inherent vice of the goods;
    • Delay, loss of market or consequential loss of any description;
    • Loss, damage or expense caused by you or your employees failing to take reasonable steps to ensure that your goods are properly refrigerated
